Hello, hello again! I’m back with another What to Wear Wednesday. Today we have a gray monochrome look. It’s become a quick default for me when I can’t figure out what to wear and need a more dressed-up look. Let’s dig in, shall we?
Dress
The dress is from one of my favorite brands for curvy women, Calvin Klein. Side note: you can be any size (standard, mid, or plus) and be curvy; it has nothing to do with how heavy you are, rather the actual shape of your body. CK has some of the best fitting dresses for my body type (hourglass/pear depending on my fitness level) in the best classic cuts.
I particularly like this dress because I never really thought sheath dresses worked well on me until I saw this one in a Macy’s. The stitching is very flattering and hits the best points under my chest and down the sides of my body. It zips up the back, which can be difficult for some to close on their own, but I haven’t had any issues yet.
Finally, the dress has a good weight, making it appropriate for New York spring and fall. It’s too hot for summer unless indoors and too cold for winter unless you’ll layer some tights underneath and pair it with the blazer jacket I’m wearing. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the exact same dress online, but I’ve linked what appears to be the same dress in a different color and a patterned one.
Blazer
Okay, I’m not actually sure if it’s a blazer or a jacket but please, just go with it. I bought it at White House Black Market a few years ago, and it was the last one on the rack. The cut of this piece is impeccable. It looks great open, but equally as professional when zipped up. The pockets are a nice addition, but the sizing doesn’t work for my needs since they’re on the smaller side, so I’ve rarely used them.
Sadly, I’ve NEVER seen this blazer jacket again anywhere, online or in stores, since I bought it. Please accept the similar styles I’ve linked as viable replacements.
Shoes
Moving on, I’ve worn these shoes a few times and featured them before. They’re my favorite, subtly flashy black pumps, and they hail from Aldo. Even though I’ve had them for years, honestly, I’m scared at any moment they might break because they’re not the best-made shoes out there. I feel sturdier pumps are available through Nine West, Calvin Klein, and Coach, based on personal experience.
What do you think of this outfit? Are you feeling monochrome looks, especially as fall approaches?
