It’s Been a Rough Week +

June 3, 2020

It is okay to feel however you feel.

With everything going on in the world for George Floyd and the countless other black men, women, and non-binary people, it’s important you take the time to feel and process. If you’re employer has not been and is not understanding, use a sick day. If you’re at a more compassionate company, take any extra time they give you. I want to tell you that it’s okay.

If you’re hurt, angry, numb, depressed, drained, or have just cried until you can’t cry anymore, it’s okay. Let yourself feel whatever it is you need to feel, but whatever you do, don’t let this break you. If you feel so moved to be an agent for change where you work, where you live, or in any community, figure out how you can help. Please, just be safe. More to come with links and resources I found helpful.

Take care of yourselves and please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments. Peace.

Just wondering. Mine was dealing with perfectionism and imposter syndrome. What is or was yours?

I combat it by reminding myself of my accomplishments, that I’m knowledgeable in my field, and that in my 9-5 I manage the finances of an organization who’s budget runs between $8M-$11M a year. 🤷🏽‍♀️ It can be hard to get out of your own head, but I find fighting doubts with facts helps if I beat the out of control spiral to the punch.

We’re still at the top of a new year. Although it’s about to get crazy for me with @autryllc I plan on doing more work with high schoolers and pre-professional programs focused on Black students 💜 ⁣
