Happy New Year! Blog Updates and More

January 5, 2021
Happy new year

Not another new year, new me type of post! I promise you this isn’t one of those blog posts. Instead, I’m here to tell you if you spent even a portion of 2020 working on something, career moves, a passion project, starting a family, it’s not time to give up yet. Psalms 46:10 says, “Be still and know that I am God.”

It’s not the time to get jittery and think it’s time to jump ship. All good things happen in due time, and anything worth having is worth waiting for. I’ll admit, this blog has been a real struggle for me at times. Sometimes I check and see if anybody’s looked at it for the day and get discouraged if I don’t see any movement. Sometimes when I feel like that and think it might be time to throw in the towel and let it go, I get some form of confirmation that it’s just not the blog’s time yet. I still have so much to learn to perfect the blogging craft and provide the best and real value to my audience. In addition to that, I have become more comfortable with putting myself out there and placing my work on display.

This year, you can expect to see more career and lifestyle content (it’ll be appropriately tagged “out of office”), along with more interviews and other mediums for said content. I’m really trying to flex my creative muscles here since, in the finance field, there’s little room for true creative endeavors. I hope you’ll enjoy the ride with me and that this year we can finally build the community that I’ve always hoped this could be.

Last year was a complete dumpster fire of a year, so let’s brush ourselves off and make this the year we do all of the things we’d only imagined in prior years. I know I’m ready and committed to my goals. Are you?

Just wondering. Mine was dealing with perfectionism and imposter syndrome. What is or was yours?

I combat it by reminding myself of my accomplishments, that I’m knowledgeable in my field, and that in my 9-5 I manage the finances of an organization who’s budget runs between $8M-$11M a year. 🤷🏽‍♀️ It can be hard to get out of your own head, but I find fighting doubts with facts helps if I beat the out of control spiral to the punch.

We’re still at the top of a new year. Although it’s about to get crazy for me with @autryllc I plan on doing more work with high schoolers and pre-professional programs focused on Black students 💜 ⁣
